Flat-fee estate agent Yopa goes national with ad-drive

Vicki Owen, Financial Mail on Sunday

Competition in the house-selling industry will hot up this week when a new online estate agent launches its first national advertising campaign.

Yopa.co.uk or Your Property Agent will launch a national roll-out on Thursday, with TV and radio advertising.

Chief executive and co-founder Daniel Attia claims the business is saving customers thousands in estate agency fees by charging sellers a flat fee of £780.

He said: ‘We set out to transform the way people sell and buy homes. Every day our local property experts are helping clients save an average of £5,348 in estate agent fees.

‘People are telling us they like our fixed-price service.

‘Consumers are rightly asking themselves: “Why am I giving estate agents thousands of pounds when I can pay £780 and keep the rest of the money to spend on other things?” ‘

One 17th Century property in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, was sold through the site within three weeks, and seller Andrew Taylor said Yopa’s charges were less than 20 per cent of those of local agents.

Yopa’s property marketing platform is available round the clock, meaning vendors can request a valuation and manage their advert, viewings and offers when it suits them.

Attia said: ‘It is the New Year and people are starting to think about selling their homes, so it is a good time for our campaign.

‘We need to differentiate our model from purely online estate agencies. We have full national coverage and someone comes round and values your home.

‘There are serious gaps in the purely online model.’
